The Bozeman Police Department welcomed six new officers during a ceremony at the Bozeman Public Library on Friday.

New officers were sworn in to replace retired officers and those who have changed professions.

Captain Andy Knight noted that 6 was a higher number than usual for a swearing-in ceremony.

Two of the six officers will work part-time, primarily as municipal court security.

“It’s great for the community of Bozeman,” said Knight. “When we can do both proactive work and reactive work, that’s our goal. When we can have enough officers out there to keep Bozeman the safest larger community within the state. That is our goal and our mission.”

Knight added having part-time officers working court security will ensure full-time officers can stay on patrol.
