BUTTE — The Butte Health Department is reminding bars and casinos that they must follow the governor's phase II directive.

The health department is handing out fliers to establishments in Butte outlining social distancing requirements and early closure times as part of the state's attempts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The city became concerned after recent reports that some businesses are not complying with the directive.

“If you don't want to abide, we have the power to close you down and we will. You know, we've been consultative and educational, but we've come to the point that if establishments are not going to abide, we're going to get serious,” said Butte Health Department Director Karen Sullivan.

No businesses in butte have been shut down yet due to phase II violations.
