Three more people in Montana died of influenza, bringing the total to nine statewide since October, the state's Department of Public Health and Human Services reported Friday.
The agency reported 1,200 new cases, the most in a single week since the flu season began. The season total is more than 8,500, and 361 patients have been hospitalized.
Flathead County saw 223 new cases this past week while 77 new cases were reported in Missoula County. Lake County reported 86 new cases and Ravalli County saw 22 new cases in the last reporting period.
So far this flu season, 721 influenza cases have been reported in Flathead County, 522 in Missoula County, 398 in Lake County and 231 in Ravalli County. Gallatin County leads Montana in flu cases this season with 1,407.
