Women-owned businesses have a chance to earn some extra funding thanks to a special grant program held statewide.
For the third year, the Montana Women's Business Center will hold its "Impact Grant" competition.
Applicants can begin applying on January 18.
In the application, business owners are encouraged to share a compelling story for how they would use or leverage the grant to grow and strengthen their businesses, or how it would impact their community.
Applicants can apply for one of three categories, with funds ranging from $2,500 to $7,500.
The Montana Women's Business Center offers programming, funding, and—down the road—even micro-loans and grants for COVID relief. But staff say this particular grant program has a different focus.
“This program is specifically for business growth, and I'll be honest, working with businesses day-to-day, there are a lot of businesses that are in crisis or have been pivoting for a year and just barely making it through,” said Director of the Women’s Business Center Lexi Preszler, adding, “But there are a lot of businesses that have had huge growth and amazing opportunities in 2020, and we're really looking for like those businesses that are doing well and need to get to the next level to serve their customers, to add products, or whatever it is to grow their business. Those are the projects that we're looking for."
