HELENA — The Lewis and Clark Suicide Prevention Coalition created a calendar highlighting various events around the area for September and Suicide Prevention Month.

Coalition coordinator Jess Hegstrom said they've created this calendar to help highlight these events, so they can help people learn about how they can help those dealing with struggles.

"We want to make sure that the community is aware of all these different events to bring awareness to this topic, to educate them on how to respond to someone who is suicidal and also stuff like how do you deal with secondary trauma," said Hegstrom.

Though there is a small handful of in-person trainings and events, a lot of the events have moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Hegstrom hopes the pandemic will actually work in their favor, now that people can tune in and learn from the comfort of their own homes.

"Maybe it will be better for our numbers because people can do it from the comfort of their home. They don't have to get a babysitter, they don't have to worry about parking. They can just attend as they want," said Hegstrom.
