MISSOULA — Wildlife Correspondent Tanner Saul and meteorologist Lewis Dortch chatted with Jeff Ewelt from Zoo Montana to learn more about Captain Jack, the zoo's savannah monitor lizard.

The savannah monitor lizard -- which is prehistoric and is found in Africa -- is built to hang out in the sun and find food.

The lizard likes to dig and its favorite food is millipedes. It also has specialized teeth to eat snails and shelled insects.

The savannah monitor lizard is built to spread out to absorb all that sunlight and keep them warm. So at ZooMontana, it lives in a special dome.
