BUTTE — As Butte’s veterans home nears completion it’s also getting a new location for a clinic that will help veterans with their medical needs.

“I think that this is great for the veterans all around, because of the fact that things are more consolidated, expanded service, and easier parking,” said Tom Goyette of the United Veterans Council.

The new Veterans Affairs clinic will be located off of Mount Highland Drive near Three Bears Alaska grocery store and close to the Southwest Montana Veterans Home that is expected to be completed this year.

The new VA clinic will replace the one in Anaconda and will offer more treatment options for veterans.

“People won’t have to travel for simple diagnostic things that should be pretty routine, so it should be a big improvement,” said Goyette.

Having the new clinic right here next to the new veterans home and the I-90 interchange would make it easier for our senior veterans to travel, especially on days like today when it’s dangerous to travel long distances.

“There’s still a lot of travel distance in Montana to get to one place or another and the easier you can make if for the veterans to get to the care they need and deserve the better it is,” he said.

The clinic is expected to be completed by the fall of next year.
