Missoula's St. Patrick Hospital has put some of its $126-million construction project on hold due to the pandemic.
The coronavirus has caused some financial delays for the project, which would be a new outpatient clinic next to the existing hospital on Broadway.
Hospital officials said other construction projects have been completed with funding from donors, including the adolescent psychiatric unit, a clinical decision unit, and the cardiovascular laboratory.
Groundbreaking for the new units took place last fall, and was expected to be complete by 2023.
"We're really already caring for those individuals very well within our current campus, we just know we can do it better. And I'm confident we'll get there," said Dombrouski. "But we just need to be fiscally smart about all of it, and if a pause is what's going to put us in that position, you know we need to do that."
He added there is no planned date to restart construction.
