MISSOULA – Snowbowl was packed Saturday afternoon with skiers eager to try their hand at a course that could help them prepare for their future.

The Missoula Freestyle Team was hosting its annual regional competition for moguls skiing with a 700-foot long course that gave skiers the option of three mogul courses.

Each competitor had two runs and had to attempt two different jumps on their way down.

The skiers were judged by three judges and scored based on their performance and the points they earned went towards qualifying for junior nationals or nationals.

Club teams from all over the Pacific Northwest came to compete and participants said they had a blast.

“I like to compete cause I really like the energy. Every time you come up you see someone you know here which is super cool,” said skier Gilly Millar.

“The most challenging part of the course was definitely the transition from the top into the middle section it’s pretty bumpy,” said competitor Noah Gibbs.

“It’s really nerve-racking just kind of want to do good you just have to practice your runs from top to bottom,” he added.

The competition will continue on Sunday at 11 a.m.
