TAZEWELL, Tenn. — A 3.02-magnitude earthquake was recorded near the Tennessee-Kentucky border around 11:23 a.m. EST.
The earthquake Wednesday was centered just southwest of Tazewell, Tennessee.
According to the United States Geological Survey, this was the fourth earthquake recorded in Tennessee this month, but the first one above 3.0 magnitude.
The others were:
July 7
- 1.6 magnitude west of Louisville, Tennessee
- 1.9 magnitude west of Louisville, Tennessee
July 6
- 1.9 magnitude east southeast of Vonore Tennessee
Also of note, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded about 30 minutes earlier in Oregon. The earthquake was centered just west of Bandon, Oregon.
