FLORENCE – Students will be heading class on Monday after getting a pair of days off due to a fire in a locker room.
Florence Carlton School Superintendent Bud Scully notified parents late Sunday afternoon that there will be school on Monday and that buses will run at the normal times.
Scully noted in an email that breakfast and lunch will be served in the new gym foyer and students will eat in the new gym until the old gym is released from the cleaning company.
Scully further stated that “at this point, the cause of the fire is undetermined but could be from faulty electrical wiring. We have had an electrician check it over.”
A contractor is continuing to clean up the areas that were affected by Thursday morning’s fire in a boy’s locker room.
It’s estimated that the fire caused $50,000 in damages.
