HAMILTON — Tuesday night the Hamilton School District voted to approve their final decisions regarding their reopening strategy.
Daly Elementary and Hamilton Middle School will attend Monday through Friday with modified schedules for extracurricular classes, while Hamilton High School will move to a block schedule Monday through Friday.
Students will have the option to go fully remote if they choose, as long as they commit to staying on that system for nine weeks. School officials plan to limit exposure on buses as they try to keep one student to a seat.
The meals will also look a little different this year. Grab-and-go meals will be available to all students for breakfast, and pre-packaged meals will be available for lunch.
Assemblies will be limited, there will be minimal field trips, and of course a strict cleaning protocol.
In the event a student or staff member tests positive for coronavirus, the school will work closely with the Ravalli County Health Department to navigate their next move.
"After talking to the county health department about what happens if we get a case, I think out of the gates we will coordinate with county health, and there’s a chance that that classroom, maybe a wing, possibly a school could be shut down, but we will work with them," Superintendent of Hamilton Public Schools Tom Korst said. "We will not make that decision in isolation. That’ll be made with the county health department."
The Hamilton School Board ruled they will allow close family for their players with no cap to attend games. That includes parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles. But there will be just two tickets allocated for the players of the opposing team.
For Hamilton athletics 350 people will be allowed at the Hamilton High School indoor arena and up to 500 people will be allowed at the outdoor stadium. Hamilton High School Athletic Director Travis Blome said these numbers will be “doable to manage.”
