More folks than ever flock to Route of the Hiawatha

LOOKOUT PASS – A popular Western Montana trail is getting more use than ever.

The Route of the Hiawatha Scenic Bike Trail has already set a new record with 50,175 visitors and they’ll be adding to that number with the trail set is remain open daily through Sunday, Sept. 23.

The Hiawatha trail runs also Interstate 90 east of Lookout Pass in Mineral County and continues into Idaho.

celebrations are being planned this week including the marking of National Cheeseburger Day where $2 hamburgers will be offered from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

A Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday where all kids 13 and under who ride the trail will get a free glowstick bracelet and a Hiawatha sticker. There will be games including cornhole and checkers at the Pearson and Roland trailheads.

Reduced rates for the shuttle will also be in effect on Sunday.
