ALBERTON – Frenchtown firefighters were called out to battle a structure fire in Alberton on Railroad Avenue on Thursday night.
Frenchtown Rural Fire District spokesman Mel Holtz says nobody was at home when the blaze broke out, however, the family pets died in the fire.
Crews worked into the early morning hours of Friday to suppress the flames coming from the attic space.
Holtz says crews had difficulty accessing the fire due to the age of the home — along with a current remodel from a fire happened in the same home on December 26.
Multiple engines were on scene early into the morning hours. The Missoula Rural Fire District and the Mineral County Sheriff Office also responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
