POLSON – MTN News has learned some new information about a Polson fire that sent one person to the hospital.

Polson Fire Chief Clint Cottle says they were dispatched to the 500 block of Main Street around 2 p.m. on Friday for a reported structure fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found an apartment complex with one unit fully involved.  A person in the involved apartment was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.

The fire was found to have extended into the attic area of the multi-unit building. Although the fire damage was contained to the initial apartment, smoke, water and ceiling removal damaged the neighboring apartments.

The Red Cross assisted the displaced residents and they worked with the apartment manager to secure temporary living arrangements.

The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
