RONAN – Close to 50 people are losing their jobs at the end of the month when the Kicking Horse Job Corp Center near Ronan closes.
The Salish Kootenai Tribal Council met earlier this week with the staff to tell them the contact with the US Department of Labor is being terminated as of February 28.
CSKT Communications Director Robert McDonald told MTN News that they still have questions for the DOL about why that contract isn’t being renewed.
He added that no students have been there since August 2018 but there are 46 employees on staff, many of them educators.
The Job Corp is a comprehensive career technical training program for ages 16 through 24. Most students live on campus and typically complete their training in less than one year in a variety of fields.
