TROUT CREEK – A $1,000 grant for sports equipment is going to help student-athletes at Trout Creek School.
The school has received a Thomas Brown Athletics Grant from California Casualty — and is one of just 64 public middle and high schools in the country to get the money.
Trout Creek coach Cody Linderman says they’ll spend the money on new equipment for the track and field team including a discus, shot put and javelin. It will also replace an electric ball pump that was stolen.
He says the Trout Creek Eagles don’t have an athletics budget so any money the school gets is through grants and donations.
The grant exists for schools to purchase new equipment, improve player safety, and provide uniforms.
