POLSON — Health officials in Lake County are warning residents that community spread is still evident despite the number of COVID-19 cases dropping in recent weeks.
Lake County had 23 active COVID-19 cases with four hospitalizations as of Monday.
Lake County Health Services Director Emily Colomeda says the majority of confirmed positive cases are coming out of the Polson area.
She told MTN News that widespread community transmission has gone down in recent weeks and the demand for testing has also dropped at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center.
Colomeda says Lake County data shows a high number of young adults have tested positive for COVID-19, stemming back to the July 4 holiday.
“I think the majority of folks have been in their 20’s, early 30’s, but we’re seeing cases of all ages,” said Colomeda.
Colomeda encourages Lake County residents to stay home if you’re feeling sick and to continue practicing social distancing measures.
