THOMPSON FALLS — Local fire officials report a Sanders County restaurant is a complete loss after a fire this weekend destroyed the establishment.
Thompson Falls Volunteer Fire Department Chief Neil Harnett says they received a call about a fire at Gengi Asian Café at around 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find flames already coming through the roof.
Chief Harnett says that flames were put out on Sunday around 6 p.m. but crews were forced to come back out at 2 a.m. Monday morning to put more water on some flames that reignited.
Chief Harnett told MTN News he believes that the building is a complete loss, but that decision will ultimately be left up to the insurance company once the damage is appraised.
