HAMILTON — While many customers are coming into Massa Home Center to buy gifts for friends and family, some are coming in to buy a gift for a child in need.
"We are hosting the head start angel tree for the eighth year in a row," Deana Wolfe owner of Massa home center said. "We have 203 kiddos this year."
All the angels on the tree represent a child or one of their siblings from Ravalli Head Start who might need a little help getting what they want for Christmas. Some of their requested items are less of a want, and more of need.
"There are kids who just want learning toys and they want books and they need warm clothes and snow boots -- and just the basics that maybe a lot of kids aren’t even getting for Christmas," Wolfe said.
Some of the people who take the angels out are regulars to Massa Home Center, while others are not. Sometimes people come in to specifically buy presents for these kids.
Jennie Rohr and her husband, heard about the tree and picked out a couple angels to shop for.
"We picked out a 9-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy. And one boy asked for a fishing rod and he asked for snow boots. And the other boy asked for a baseball mitt and snow pants and snow gloves. And so we went over to Bob Wards and had a blast buying stuff," Rohr said about her two angels.
Rohr loved the experience so much she went back for thirds taking her third angel to shop for, "when you give back you feel good."
The Ravalli Head Start angel tree will be going on until Dec. 17 for people to pick out an angel, and get Christmas gifts for someone in need.
