The National Bison Range in the Mission Valley is temporarily suspending public visitation and use in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

According to a social media post, officials are following guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and recommendations from state and local public health authorities.

The post further states that the suspension of operations at the National Bison Range is being supported by Lake County, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and the Gov. Steve Bullock's office.

The refuge visitor center had been closed since March 9.

Updates will be posted to the refuge website and social media channels, and the refuge's status will be reassessed after the Governor of Montana lifts the state's stay-at-home order.
