POLSON — A pair of serious vehicle accidents and a "significant" medical emergency were aided by the help of local Lake County citizens, according to the Polson Police Department.
In a release Saturday morning, Polson PD said that all of the incidents occurred on Friday with both crashes taking place on U.S. Highway 93.
The first crash involved a motorcycle and truck with injuries, and as calls were coming into the dispatch center, "people were already assisting to the injured and traffic control," until emergency crews arrived, according to the police department.
In an unspecified medical emergency, Polson PD said a "retired nurse" helped officers assist a patient.
In the second crash, "Two Army veterans took the initiative and began traffic control and tending to the injured before emergency crews arrived and took control of the scene."
The extent of the injuries in both crashes or their current conditions were not specified.

On 08/07/2020, during the dayshift your Polson Police Department had two significant crashes on US Highway 93 and one significant medical emergency incident. The unselfish acts of kindness and good old-fashioned Montana initiative displayed by citizens of Polson was nothing short of extraordinary. This comes as no surprise for those of us who live here, but for our guest be advised, Polson is the greatest community around.

If helping a stranger with injuries is not nerve racking enough, directing backed-up Summer traffic on US 93 is and yet these folks jumped right in there until emergency crews could arrive.
Next was a significant medical emergency and a retired nurse jumped right in to assist officers tending to the patient. Another example of putting the needs of others before one’s own, particularly during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
After that came another crash on US 93 with injuries. Two Army veterans took the initiative and began traffic control and tending to the injured before emergency crews arrived and took control of the scene.
