RONAN — In a year of challenges and uncertainty, Ronan leaders are using a new event to not only help local businesses rebound but reward the community members who shop small.
The Ronan Chamber of Commerce's Shop Hop event aims to encourage the community to shop small and local for the holidays.
The event consists of community members visiting 28 businesses and receiving a stamp on a punch card, no purchase necessary. By the end of the event on Dec. 21, the Chamber will collect the cards and choose the winner of a $435 gift certificate to chamber businesses.
Ronan Chamber of Commerce Manager Katie Elliott says this event will help the businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19 while also boosting Ronan’s downtown economy.
“We have some really great businesses around town and in our valley and I think you know this year has better detrimental to them and so we are really pushing people to shop local and visit those local businesses and see what they have to offer is so important this year," said Elliott.
The Ronan Chamber of Commerce is also offering a caravan event to help those struggling with not seeing their families this holiday season. The caravan will begin this Friday by driving by the nursing home.
