MISSOULA – If you want to experience a “white Christmas”, travel website Expedia says you can’t do much better than right here in Western Montana.
Expedia’s “Top 25” list of the best places to experience a “white Christmas” is based on the probability of having snow, either already on the ground or in the sky.
Missoula holds the #22 spot, based on the 11″ of snow we usually receive in December, as well as holiday events.
But of course, sometimes the heaviest snow doesn’t fall right on the 25th. You’ll remember last year when we got blasted with one of the biggest storms of the year right after Christmas.
Whitefish finishes at #19 on the Expedia list, based on the usual December snowfall of 23″.
Nearby Sandpoint, Idaho was right between Missoula and Whitefish at #21, making this one of the few parts of the country will so many towns making the list.
Of note, Whitefish was actually one spot ahead of North Pole, Alaska. Santa could not be reached for comment.
